Games Done Quick has become one of my favorite events, and I always look forward to watching the week long spectacular. For those of you that don’t know, the Games Done Quick Speed Running Marathons have been going on since January 1st 2010. Raising over 8 Million Dollars for Charity over the last 7 years for both the Prevent Cancer Foundation, and Doctors Without Borders. All the while playing video games, GDQ has gone a long way to prove that Gamers are more than what the stereotype would make us out to be. Basement Dwellers, living with mom and Dad, Fat, and typically awkward to be around.

They raise money through donations by offering incentives to what your money can go for, such as having to complete extra stages, getting serenaded with Disney songs while watching a Run of Kingdom Hearts, or the ever so famous one. Save or Kill the Animals. The last of those has become so popular that it encouraged Mat-Pat to dedicate an episode of his show Game Theory on the subject! (You can watch that Here!) The Bid wars get pretty intense sometimes with people dropping upwards of ten-thousand dollars to help the save the animals in Super Metroid.
The biannual event has even encouraged me to do runs of some of my favorite games! Including Mega Man 2, Super Mario Bros 3, and More recently, Mighty No. 9. I’ve worked the hardest on my run on probably my favorite game in the franchise Mega Man 2, getting a recorded run under 40 Mins once, a mere 8 minutes off the World Record. It doesn’t sound like much, but trust me, that’s a feat in itself. You can see that video below!
There’s a lot of Runs this year to look forward too but I wanna give special Mention to the ones I’m most excited to see. Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of the Patriots on European Extreme Difficulty on Sunday the 8th. Sunset Riders on Monday, The All Events Run of Super Smash Bros Melee early on Tuesday, The 4 Way Race that night of Super Mario Sunshine, The 4 Way Race of Mega Man X 100% (Let’s Go Caleb Hart!) Donkey Kong Country Trilogy Relay on Friday, and Lastly Everything on Saturday after 9am. But most specifically Super Dram World by Grand Poo Bear, and the Tas Block. TAS BOT is always a treat!
AGDQ starts Tomorrow at 11am with Ape Escape 2 by iongravirei (I had to Copy/Paste that… I have no idea how to pronounce that..) Tune in on either their website here or their Twitch Channel here. Show your support by either donating if you can or sharing the stream to others. Show your support by watching! I can’t wait to see what the runners have in store! But until then, I’m Frank Wak, Thank you so much for reading my Blog, and I’ll see you next time.
